I keep getting these fascinating missives from a couple of Italian artists – Eva and Franco Mattes. Recently they and some associates decided to tour the Chernobyl plant in the Ukraine. Some truly stunning photos. They mentioned that all shared a love of Tarkovsky’s 1979 film Stalker. I highly recommend this film as well, and I think it really is quite something to view the Mattes’ trip to Chernobyl through Stalker’s magical realist lens.
